Is a permit required to construct or install a shed or storage building?
A permit is required to build or install any detached storage structure larger than 120 square feet. Even if a permit is not required, the structure must still meet all building and zoning codes, including being tied down to prevent wind displacement (Placement and anchorage on a concrete slab or through the use of helical mobile home anchors), required setbacks from property lines, and may not be placed in an easement. Also, the city’s zoning ordinance prohibits the placement of more than one storage building on each lot.
