Iron Avenue Ribbon Cutting
At 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 1st the City of Salina will host a ribbon cutting marking the opening of the recently reconstructed Iron Avenue.
Portions of Iron Avenue west of Ohio Street were closed to through traffic between May 26, 2015 and March 4, 2016. During that time, Pavers Inc. of Salina removed the old pavement, built new pavement, and added amenities including: a bicycle/pedestrian path north of Iron Avenue; brick crosswalks; black powder coated intersection lighting, pedestrian lighting, and traffic signals; a HAWK pedestrian signal; and on-street bicycle lanes.
The ribbon cutting will be held at the intersection of Iron Avenue and Front Street. A short portion of Front Street will be closed to traffic during the ceremony. The event is expected to conclude by 10:00 a.m. after which Front Street will again be opened to traffic.
The public is invited to attend. Guests may park in the Save-a-Lot parking lot or a block west in the Salina Community Theatre parking lot. Because the ceremony is expected to be brief, seating and refreshments will not be provided.
The event will be held rain or shine.
