Golf Course Manager to Receive Youth Player Development Award

Mike Hargrave, Salina Municipal Golf Course Manager, is the recipient of the Youth Player Development Award. Hargrave will be honored on December 5 at the Midwest Section Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Special Awards Ceremony.

Hargrave has been a PGA Professional since 2004, and worked for the City of Salina since 1996
. He is a certified coach for The First Tee, a national program that works to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Hargrave is responsible for directing all of The First Tee youth golf programs in Salina, in which over 450 individuals participate each summer, and an additional 3500 individuals participate in communitywide outreach programs throughout the year.

“Receiving this award is truly an honor. As with any successful program, it’s not just one person that makes it work. I want to thank all the assistant coaches, volunteers, board members, and The First Tee for helping to make our youth program the success it is today.”
