The plan for the waterline work for the week beginning April 16 is as follows:
Crews will be working between Mulberry Street and Walnut Street;
Inside lanes on Santa Fe Avenue will be closed intermittently for water line work. The northbound and southbound outside lanes will remain open all week;
The center of the Walnut Street/Santa Fe Avenue intersection will be under construction mid-week. All four sides will remain open, but thru traffic and left turns in all directions on Walnut Street will be restricted.
Traffic control will be set up from Mulberry Street to Walnut Street for a northbound lane closure for pavement removal on April 23. Northbound traffic for this area will need to use an alternate route on Fifth Street or Seventh Street.
The mid-block push-button pedestrian signal near Spilman Plaza will also be decommissioned and removed in this phase. The crossing will remain and function similar to other un-signalized crosswalks in the city.
Pedestrian access to all storefronts will be maintained. Santa Fe Avenue street parking will be disrupted; plenty of downtown parking exists in the public parking lots and along Fifth Street and Seventh Street.
