5/1/2018 - Kansas Legends and Folktales, a First Thursday Presentation

Kansas is a place of big skies and tall tales. Join Jim Hoy, Thursday, May 3, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Smoky Hill Museum (211 W. Iron), as he explores some of the many Kansas legends and folktales: grasshoppers so big, cowboys can ride them to herd cattle; summers so hot, corn pops in the field; Rancher Henry Mudge who wrecked pianos, shot sheep and fooled European dignitaries.

Hoy will also help decipher between a myth, legend and tale. Hoy teaches folklore and literature at Emporia State University.

The Museum would like to thank the Kansas Humanities Council, for making this presentation possible.
