7/19/2018 - Santa Fe Avenue Streetscape and Waterline Update (Mulberry Street to Walnut Street)

The Streetscape and Waterline work proposed for next week, July 23rd, is shown on the attached maps and further described as follows:

  • Traffic control will be switched to allow north bound one-way traffic in this one block from Mulberry to Walnut. Southbound traffic will be detoured west on Walnut, south on 7th Street for 2 blocks to South Street, and back to Santa Fe Avenue (sheet 2);

  • Contractor will begin removals of curb, sidewalk and street pavement and parking areas on the west side of Santa Fe between Mulberry and Walnut (the majority of removals will be during night time hours beginning at 6 pm). Temporary walkways and signage will be installed and coordinated with business owners to maintain access to doors (sheet 2);

  • The Walnut Street / Santa Fe Avenue intersection will remain closed on the southeast quadrant as pavement and sidewalk work continues. Eastbound traffic on Walnut will not be allowed through the intersection but will be able to go north. Westbound traffic will be able to travel through the intersection or turn right and go north on Santa Fe (sheet 3);

  • The Mulberry Street / Santa Fe Avenue intersection west side will be closed to thru traffic (sheet 1);

  • Waterline crews will begin service line connections to the new water main from Mulberry Street to Walnut Street (Sheet 2).

The attached maps also show the parking areas, vehicle access lanes, and pedestrian paths for visitors and customers to navigate around the area. Pedestrian access to all storefronts is still available even though the Santa Fe Avenue street parking is disrupted. Plenty of downtown parking exists in the public parking lots and along Fifth Street and Seventh Street.
