Members of the City of Salina Heritage Commission will be attending the dedication ceremony of a historical marker for August Bondi on the grounds of the Smoky Hill Museum, 211 W. Iron Avenue, on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
The historic marker is being dedicated to August Bondi, a Jewish American immigrant who figured prominently in the anti-slavery movement in Territorial Kansas prior to the Civil War. He moved to Salina in 1866 and became a notable public figure in the community until his death in 1907.
No discussion of City business will occur and no official action will be taken by the Heritage Commission at the dedication ceremony.
