3/4/2019 - Creative Voices from the Land: Sharing History Through Art, A First Thursday Presentation

A free presentation focusing on Native American art will be hosted by the Smoky Hill Museum on Thursday, March 7 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Join special guest speakers America Meredith and Kelly Church as they discuss the history of Great Plains Native American art and how that art communicates history.

Meredith, of the Cherokee Nation, is publishing editor of First American Art Magazine and her art is shown throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Church, of the Odawa/Ojibwe/Potawatomi nations, is a 2018 NEA National Heritage Fellow, a painter, textile artist and fifth generation basket weaver.

To accommodate a larger crowd, the presentation will be held at the First United Methodist Church's Fellowship Hall, 122 N. Eighth St., just across the street from the Museum.
