SINGER/SONGWRITER ANN ZIMMERMAN PLAYS
ART A LA CARTE CONCERT SEPTEMBER 20
(Salina, KS 09-13) Ann Zimmerman, a Salina singer and songwriter, will play for the Art a la Carte concert series on Friday, September 20th. These free, outdoor concerts are presented by Salina Arts & Humanities. The concerts take place at Robert Caldwell Plaza, on the commons between the City/County Building and the Salina Public Library. The half-hour performances begin at 12:20 p.m. each Friday and will conclude on October 11th.
Ann Zimmerman’s professional music career has included engagements in concert halls, taverns, barns and conventions, but in central Kansas, she may be best-known among the grade-school set. Each year, she performs dozens of school concerts, often about historical and modern Kansas, leading enthusiastic crowds of elementary and middle-school students in song. Some of her songs are traditional and many she writes herself, with the involvement of the students.
Zimmerman’s brand new CD, “MEADOWLARK: Songs for the Child in You,” as well as her three earlier recordings will be available for purchase at the Sept. 20 concert. Zimmerman, who grew up in Salina, is also a local attorney, mediator, and co-owner of E Bar Z Stables in rural Saline County.
In inclement weather, Art a la Carte performances are held at the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts, 151 S. Santa Fe.
