City to Issue Warnings for Vehicles Parked in Yards

The City of Salina Police Department has begun to issue written warnings to people who park vehicles in front yards on unimproved surfaces. These notices will request citizens to move their vehicles and park in a legal manner.

The Standard Traffic Ordinance Chapter 38, Article 1, Section 85(13) & 85(14) does not allow parking of vehicles within the ‘yard’.  The ordinance is available on the City of Salina website, at www.salina-ks.gov, click on City Code.

Between now and May 1, 2014 the notices will be a warning only, with the goal of educating citizens, obtaining voluntary compliance and preventing future violations.  Effective May 1, citations may be issued in the form of a ticket with fines and court costs.

Questions about these warnings can be directed to the Salina Police Department at 785-826-7210
