Iron Avenue at Fourth Street to Close for Railroad Crossing Upgrade

On Wednesday, March 26, Union Pacific Railroad will begin work on replacing the railroad crossing located on Iron Avenue at Fourth Street. Once the new track work is completed, City Public Works crews will re-open a portion of the road to two-way traffic while performing work on the street directly adjacent to the crossing. The street work is expected to be completed by Friday, April 11th.

Iron Avenue will be closed to thru traffic just east of Fourth Street, but access can be gained to all businesses on either side of the tracks by way of the detour.  Eastbound motorists will be directed one block north to Ash Street at Fifth Street while westbound traffic will be routed to Ash Street by way of Oakdale Avenue.

City Staff has worked with Union Pacific to minimize the disruption for businesses and the community. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to proceed with caution for the safety of the crews performing the work.
