Smoky Hill River Festival 2014 Collaborative Dance Project
Local dancers ages 12 and up are invited to participate in a collaborative dance project at the Smoky Hill River Festival.
The project partners the Lawrence Arts Center and a professional dance company, Communitas Dance. Master classes will be taught by choreographer Hanan Misko and dancer Chelsea Davis, with performances on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 during Festival weekend.
Hanan Misko is a 2010 graduate of The Julliard School and also of the Kansas City Ballet School and Jo Noth’s White Oak Dance Academy. He is currently director/choreographer of the Lawrence Art Center’s Lawrence Ballet Theatre.
Classes and rehearsals for the Festival collaborative dance project take place at Salina Community Theatre, 303 E. Iron Avenue, in the dance studios on the basement level.
Saturday, May 31st
9:00 – 10:30 a.m. 1st Master Class with Hanan Misko
11a.m.-2:00 p.m. Local Dancer Rehearsal with Hanan Misko and Chelsea Davis
Saturday, June 7th
9:00-10:30 a.m. 2nd Master Class with Hanan Misko
11a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Local Dancer Rehearsal with Hanan Misko and Chelsea Davis
3:00-5:00 p.m. Local Dance/Communitas Dance rehearsal in Oakdale Park.
River Festival dance performance times and locations will be announced and include a Sound Garden performance on Saturday, June 14th at 4:00 p.m.
