ORDINANCE NUMBER 25-11258
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SALINA CODE SECTION 2-51 PERTAINING TO THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE CITY AND REPEALING THE EXISTING SECTION 2-51.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. Amendment. Section 2-51 of the Salina Code is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2-51. - Classified service created; exceptions.
There is hereby created the classified service of the city. All persons employed by the city shall be appointed, employed, and paid under the provisions of the rules and regulations relating to positions in the classified service which may be adopted as provided in section 2-52, with the following exceptions: elected officials, the city manager, unclassified employees (including intermittent, and temporary/seasonal employees), persons serving the city as independent contractors, and persons retained by the city as consultants.
Section 2. Repealer. Existing Salina Code Section 2-51 is repealed.
Section 3. Publication. The City Clerk shall cause this ordinance, as soon as practicable after it has been passed and signed, to be published on the City’s website as the designated official city newspaper.
Section 4. Effective date. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its publication.
