As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, The Smoky Hill Museum invites every household, business, and organization in Salina to join in a unique celebration of American history: Two Lights for Tomorrow.
What is Two Lights for Tomorrow?
Two Lights for Tomorrow is a nationwide initiative to commence the celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States of America. The famous ride of Paul Revere occurred overnight on April 18 – 19, 1775. This initiative honors that legendary moment when Paul Revere signaled the approach of British troops with lanterns in Boston’s Old North Church. It represents the spirit of unity, vigilance, and the enduring quest for freedom.
How to Participate
Everyone can participate! All you have to do is display two lights in your homes, businesses, and at your cultural, historical, and community sites the night of April 18 to raise awareness and draw attention to and commemorate the beginning of our constant endeavor as a nation to work together for a better tomorrow!
Let’s light up Salina with the glow of liberty, reminding each other of the vigilance and courage that define us as Americans. Together, we can make Two Lights for Tomorrow a shining moment in our city’s contribution to America’s 250th anniversary.
Join us in this historic celebration, and let’s illuminate Salina with the enduring light of freedom.
