With another winter storm upon Kansas, the City of Salina started pretreating roads yesterday morning (February 17) and began plowing around 1 am today (February 18). We are currently operating 24 hours per day to ensure roadways are safe and passable for the community.
Tuesday Forecast Outlook:
- Bands of light snow continue to drift through off and on through mid-morning before the steadiest snow arrives lasting through the afternoon and early evening hours, ending around 7 pm.
- Temperatures in single digits reduces the effectiveness of treatments
- Gusty winds up to 30 mph will create areas of blowing & drifting snow at times, occasionally reducing visibility.
The public is asked to allow ample space when approaching city trucks from behind, as the equipment will be distributing salt to the roadway, as well as plowing. Driving too closely to equipment could present additional challenges and safety concerns for operators and other motorists.
